Double RRL Ralph Lauren Shearling Collar Newsboy 30s-Style Leather Jacket “M”

£1,250.00 GBP

"This is a used vintage garment and may show signs of wear. Please refer to the individual item description and review the photos carefully."

Presented here is one of the standout pieces from RRL’s 2020 spring collection, a season that marked one of the brand’s most ambitious explorations of heritage clothing to date. Drawing heavily from 1930s and 1940s workwear and outerwear, the collection was produced to an exceptionally high standard, with custom-developed materials and detailed finishing throughout. When it was released, it sold through rapidly and has since become one of the most sought-after modern RRL ranges.

This jacket is the shearling collar newsboy, widely regarded as the rarest and most desirable leather jacket from that season. It features a classic point collar trimmed in shearling, a full zip front, and a beautifully proportioned silhouette that feels both period-correct and extremely flattering when worn. The front is fitted with two buttoned waist pockets, each layered over chamois-lined handwarmer pockets, along with a buttoned chest pocket. Corozo buttons are used throughout, and adjustable tabs at the back allow the fit to be fine-tuned at the waist.

The construction is equally impressive. The shell is cut from full-grain cowhide that has been hand-dyed and hand antiqued to achieve RRL’s signature worn-in look. The back panel features a segmented 1940s-inspired design, while the interior is thoughtfully layered with a quilted body, a fine-wale corduroy lining at the back, and smooth linings through the sleeves for comfort. The shearling collar is sourced from New Zealand and adds both warmth and presence without overwhelming the jacket’s design.

This particular example was originally sold for the Japanese market, reflected by the Japanese tag. As a result, it remains in near-new condition and appears completely unworn, something rarely seen with this model.

RRL no longer produces this jacket, and examples are becoming increasingly difficult to find, especially in this condition. It stands apart from most RRL leather offerings in both design and execution, and it is easy to see why it has become such a coveted piece. If you are looking for a leather jacket with exceptional materials, a timeless cut, and long-term collectability, this is a hard one to beat.
