"This is a used vintage garment and may show signs of wear. Please refer to the individual item description and review the photos carefully."

This is a jacket I purchased myself a few years back when this color configuration was first released. It is a Chinese reproduction of a 1930s aviator jacket that was originally produced in a thick horsehide, but this edition uses a soft sheepskin instead. These jackets are produced by the same manufacturers and machinists behind designer brands such as Ralph Lauren. They are some of the most expensive jackets on the market, and use the best labor available in China to achieve this level of craftsmanship. These jackets are still being made today, and I loved this jacket so much that I bought another for a friend a few months ago, but I was disappointed to see a noticeable decline in quality. It was still a good jacket, just not as good as this original release.

With the horsehide version of this jacket being worn by Rami Malek in the new Nuremberg film and demand rising quickly, I thought now would be a good time to list it. I hate to part with it as I know I won’t get another one like it, but I simply have too many jackets. I originally bought this piece from Japan for slightly more than my current asking price, and when you factor in inflation, import duties, and shipping, this is an excellent opportunity to pick one up. I am sure I could get more for it, but I have priced it to give someone a great chance at owning one, and I expect it will sell very quickly.

The jacket features an aviator style fur collar that tapers down into a crosszip, which backs the zipper to prevent wind from entering the jacket. Tucked under the collar is a buckled throat latch that does a fantastic job at keeping the collar secured and the wearer warm in foul weather. On the left waist is a 1930s D pocket design with a slanted zipper pocket and a coin pocket, while the right side features a single slanted handwarmer pocket. The jacket has buckle adjusters at the back waist to bring it in and create an hourglass silhouette, and the wrists are buttoned so you can tighten them if you choose. The main zipper is a reproduction 1930s Talon, and it is one of the best functioning repro Talons I have ever used. It works flawlessly. The leather is a beautiful soft sheepskin finished with a teacore calfskin trim that has been hand antiqued to perfection. It is hand antiqued, so the quality of this finish comes as no surprise. The leather is very high quality and feels excellent, with a naturally pebbled grain in light and dark brown tones.

If you are interested in the jacket from the film or simply love the look of this design, I could not recommend it more. I am confident you will be very pleased with it.

Condition

Mint. I’ve only worn this jacket once or twice, so it is in great shape and has mostly been stored away. On the right arm there is a scuff on the sheepskin from the antiquing process, but this was present when the jacket was new. The makers antique the jacket after it is fully constructed, which gives it a far more natural and authentic aged look.

Restoration

Nothing needed for this jacket as it is brand new.
