I purchased this myself in 2023. It was made as a limited edition for the Chinese Year of the Rabbit and, to my knowledge, has not been produced since; it is a one-off piece. It was made by a Chinese company that has previously produced for luxury brands such as Ralph Lauren and is renowned for creating reproduction jackets from premium materials. This piece is based on the 1940s A2 jacket and does an excellent job of capturing that classic look. I bought it from a Japanese retailer, and while I’m not certain if it was made specifically for them, I purchased it for slightly more than the current listing price, not including shipping and import duties. To my knowledge, this jacket has not and will not be produced again.

It is made from imported tumbled brown vegetable-tanned horsehide, featuring a fantastic brown color and a texture unlike any other hide I’ve seen, especially horsehide. This gives the jacket an incredible rugged look and unique texture. The leather is softer than your usual horsehide which makes it easier to break in and doesn't restrict movement at all. The jacket is lined with American twill worsted cotton, and the cuffs and waistband are crafted from a Japanese double-woven cotton and wool blend ribbing; the best I’ve ever seen used on a jacket.

The jacket has all the hallmarks of a high-quality reproduction, including the Army Air Forces stamp on the wind flap with the windclip at the top of the zipper and a reproduction Ideal zipper. All hardware and the zipper are custom made by YKK in Japan. The back is fully one piece and looks absolutely phenomenal. The liner features the front quarter horsehide label along with an interior pocket, and the arms are lined with a silky material, though the exact composition is unknown.

This is a phenomenal jacket, and it stands out from anything else that has hit the market since. I have only ever worn this once myself and I am confident it will look stunning with some wear and a break in. The leather, texture, and overall quality are extraordinary. If you’re looking for a flight jacket, this is an exceptional one to pick up, and I doubt another like it will appear anytime soon.
